APPLICATIONS FOR PULP AND PAPER INDUSTRY
Plate Heat exchangers are an essential part of the papermaking process. The pulp and paper industry uses a large amount of energy to remove the non-cellulose part of the fibrous material in the papermaking process through the generation of steam. It breaks down the raw materials and cooking liquor in the cooker as the first step in wood pulp processing and reefing. A heat exchanger is used here to pull chemical compounds out of the wood, leaving behind a thick residue. The second stage utilizes the heat exchanger to dry the pulp, so it can be further processed to form paper. Finally, once the pulp reaches the desired colour, it is processed through the papermaking machine. Plate heat exchangers are also used in the heat recovery systems which reuse the heat produced save energy and resources.
